Why Farsi is your first hurdle in Qum, and how the SIOS Intensive Language and Maʿarif (ILM) Program gets you to a working level within six months.
The primary language of instruction in Qum is Farsi, though some hawzahs also offer courses in Arabic, English and Urdu. Getting a solid grounding in the language early is the single biggest thing you can do to make the rest of your studies — and your daily life — run smoothly.
The SIOS Intensive Language and Maʿarif (ILM) Program aims to give new students a solid foundation in Farsi comprehension and conversation within six months, through a proven and effective curriculum.
Classes are conducted five to six days a week, four to five hours a day, and are led by experienced local teachers. Using a blend of interactive teaching methods, the program focuses on developing your communication skills so that you can hold a real conversation, not just recite vocabulary.
